Takeaway Wagyu Steak Sandwich with Sweet Potato Fries

Prep Time: 25 Minutes
Total Time: 50 Minutes

Yield: 2 Servings

Intro

This ain’t your average sandwich. Tender wagyu seared steak, caramelized onions, melty cheese, and a smoky garlic aioli, all tucked into a toasted roll—it’s comfort food made for real life. Pair it with golden sweet potato fries and you’ve got a meal that travels well, fills you up, and hits the spot every time.

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  • Toss sweet potato fries with olive oil, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.
  • Spread out on a baking sheet (don’t crowd them) and bake 25–30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until crispy and golden.
  • Heat butter and oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  • Add onions and a pinch of salt. Cook slow, stirring occasionally, until golden and sweet (about 15–20 minutes).
  • Mix mayo, garlic, mustard, paprika, and lemon juice in a bowl. Set aside or refrigerate.
  • Season wagyu steak slices with salt and pepper.
  • Sear in a hot pan for 1–2 minutes per side until just cooked. Don’t overdo it- let that beef shine.
  • Toast your rolls.
  • Spread garlic aioli on both sides.
  • Layer steak, caramelized onions, cheese, and greens.
  • Press lightly and wrap in parchment or foil if it’s a takeaway.

Plate (or pack) the sandwich with a generous handful of those sweet potato fries. A little side of aioli for dipping never hurts either.
